- Has worked as a freelance pilot since before the Clone Wars
- After making some stupid decisions about who to sell his piloting skills to, Valee got tangled up with and indebted to a Hutt crime boss.
- After the fall of the planet Duro to the Separatists' Droid Army, he tried to join the Grand Army of the Republic but was told the clones were more than capable of fighting the war. He joined with other refugee Duros to form a privateer squadron fighting the Droid Army.
- After the formation of the Empire, which stripped the reclaimed planet Duro of the remainder of its resources and forced many Duros to move off world, he realized the war had been lost despite victory. His disillusionment with the new government led him to turn to smuggling and piloting for anyone opposed to the new Empire.
