Northreach Session 7: Thunderspire Mountain

Session 7 Summary
After their victory at the gate and first tower of Horned Hold, the group pressed forward into the Duergar fortress. They entered the mess hall interrupting the meal of a rather large important looking dark dwarf and another dwarf who attacked them with the help of several irritating Dwarven scouts. They were successful but at quite the cost of powers and resources. They killed two of the dwarves and one of the three scouts in the encounter. They found three slaves in the kitchen. The group argued for a few minutes on what to do with the slaves and decided to ask the frightened slaves to remain in the kitchen while they proceeded deeper into the keep. They found a statue room and another balcony into the second fortified area of the hold. The group decided to attempt to storm the doors of the first balcony they had found.
Not realizing that the two scouts who they missed earlier had warned others in the hold, they attempted to storm the north balcony. Their attempt failed and they were forced to pulled back. The scouts and several Duergar attempted to stop them but they were able to flee the fortress with the three slaves and make it back to the Seven Pillared Hall. The group paid for the slaves to stay at the Halfmoon Inn while they recuperated and while the group rescued the rest of the slaves from the Horned Hold.
After a good nights rest, Findo, Tinverton, and Julian went to the Trading Post to inquire about buying slaves but with the Duergar there refusing to help them much and lying about the Horned Hold, they found themselves at a dead end. They went to Gendar’s shop and bought healing potions as well as inquiring about alternative ways into the Horn Hold. Gendar informed them that the backdoor to the hold was deeper into the Underdark and probably much more dangerous than a frontal assault.
Without reinforcements or other ideas, the group assaulted the gates of the Horned Hold again and killed four Duergar guards and encountered the scouts once again. They succeeded in getting to the dining area and statue room again but scattered ash and water around them in an attempt to find the scouts. They ran across the south bridge and after Tinverton picked the lock on the iron door battled their way into the fortified room. There they battled a Theurge, several Duergar guards, one of the scouts, and two arbalests. The defeated all but the Theurge who escaped through a doorway.
