Background
I wanted to put up a little bit of my character background, though it probably will change( at least a little bit) in next week or so.
Many years past, Brother Malidnen Ironbrew was inducted into the clerical order of the Withered Hammer, a templar like organization charged with the protection of the most secret dealings of the clan. Among other things, the order handled the responsibilities of providing spiritual leadership and council to the Dwarvish royalty as well as other dignitaries of the same faith. Agents of the Withered Hammer often acted as emissaries and ambassadors to other clans, as well as other strongholds and kingdoms.
As of late, the daughter heiress to the clan crown had been abducted by a powerful foe. After weeks of turmoil and chaos, the elders of the clan (some of which belonging to the order of the Withered Hammer), were able to determine where the heiress was being held. The clan swiftly decided to nominate a small group of warrior rogues and priests to raid this stronghold and return the daughter to the safety of her family. Being one of the most promising apprentices, Brother Malidin was allowed to accompany his mentor on the excursion.
The party was successful. They were able to complete the mission with no casualties, however there was a problem. The heiress was in a comatose state that had the royal healers baffled. As far even the most powerful priests could tell, her condition was worsening and they had no cure. The heiress was turning into some sort of a lich like creature, her life force being drained. Someone had to search out a cure, a way to return the daughter heir to the clan crown to a healthy life. Brother Malidin Ironbrew stepped up to the challenge. Packing his bags and saying good bye, he left the halls looking for some way to save his clan name.
I am new to this campain setting, so when I wrote this bio, I new a few things would have to or should change. I have received some and would welcome any more suggestions that may help shape my character to the realm.
Description
Malidin stands 4’7” tall and weighs slightly over 140 lbs. He beard is well kept, as he often smoothes it and he is constantly taking the braids out and re-braiding them. He shaves his head daily to reveal the tattoos on his scalp that resemble a symmetrical swirling pattern with jagged points.
When on patrol or when adventuring, he wears his newly repaired Dwarvencraft Interlocking Plate armor. The armor resembles what you might see on an armadillo or a stegosaurus. The plates overlap in a means to provide a great amount of protection while standing still. If needed, Malidin will tuck his beard into his belt, or in extreme circumstances, his armor. Malidin wears a snug fitting bullet shaped helmet. The helmet has an open face with a single solid piece coming down out of the brow as a nose guard. When he has his helmet on, it shadows much of his face, leaving only his mouth and beard exposed.(for drinking and moping up!)
The shield strapped to his arm has seen its days in combat. Shaped much like a circle with a bite taken out of it, the extra room allows Malidin to wield his war hammer more freely, and when charging he can fill the void with the head of his weapon to protect his body.
Around Malidin’s neck he wears a very hansom amulet, the crafting style of which is very hard to determine. One thing is for sure, it definitely isn’t dwarvish in nature. The amulet resembles a tribal dream catcher, made out of a dark metal, with a tiger stripped red and black stone set in the middle. The diameter of the amulet is approximately four inches, and it hangs down around ten inches on a thin chain.
Malidins most prized position is his war hammer. Looking like a cross between a forge hammer and a traditional style dwarvish war hammer, the head is a bit larger and less tapered. The handle is adorned in various precious metals and looks almost long enough for someone else to use it as a two handed weapon. There are many runes and scripts written into the surface of both the head and handle, giving it a quite ancient look.
Personality
A bit of Malidin's thought after leaving the ruins heading towards Wir. Plenty more, this is just a snippet.
...been walking through this blasted forest for a few days now. Been carrying my armor on my back, it just ain’t right. All this sneakin’ around is starting to get to me. I saw me a couple of trolls and a couple hobgoblins just a few hours ago. I wanted to help them take their final nap, but I couldn’t afford to draw the attention. Me blood is boiling and the worst thing is, I still have a long, long way to go to get home.
I can still smell the smoke from the remnants of Silvervale. Sad thing that. My ale only had two more weeks till perfection. Aye, one more glass of cider and I may start writing poetry. I’d sooner shave me beard.
We quietly pick our way through the forest for most of the day, and as many hours at night as possible. Ayanna took off after we decided to leave the ruins, and has been gone for days. We would move a lot faster with her help, but some of the things I have learned from her have served me well.
At night, while most of the others seem to sleep, I enter a meditative trance. I have never before achieved this level of meditation, but now that I have had a taste, I work at attaining the same results or better each night. Its become a kind of addiction. Through me actions, I have discerned ways to unleash more of the raw power that lies in me hammer. I had these incredible visions of my father’s life. He was the most righteous and noble man I have ever known, in addition to being one of the best defenders of our clan
