After a week of what seemed like non-stop work left over from our last adventure, I welcomed the chance to take some time off. Unfortunately, that was not to be. Kayli and I returned from our morning time to find Arabel looking frantically for Mathis. He was known to hide from her frequently, but she always managed to find him in short order. This time, however, she had been looking for him for quite some time and was getting very concerned. Kayli and I pitched in to no avail. After a couple of hours, Moolog showed up with a request for help. It seems one of the children that he favors disappeared as well. Now, I knew things were getting serious.

Mathis seemed to like hanging out with Hero, so I went over to his shop on the off-chance that the boy was there. A girl, Nikki, was running the shop and didn’t seem to know Hero but, after some prodding, passed some information about where Inar might be. I reassured Arabel that I would find her brother, and Kayli told her that she would cover for Arabel this evening. I promised Kayli that we wouldn’t be too long.

Moolog and I departed directly on the information that Nikki had provided. Knowing that Inar was a persona that Hero used for some of his activities, I thought that it might be just a matter of telling him what was going on to get him to help. I was disappointed to discover that I was wrong and that he was more interested in playing whatever “I’m not who you think I am” games. The more he persisted, the worse my mood got because I could not imagine what would be happening to the boys every minute we delayed.

He finally agreed to track them down and we proceeded into the sewer where Moolog knew to start. Our journey, as squishy and stinky as it was, became worse when we found ourselves in a combat with a Daask ambush party. Moolog dispatched the first pair of trolls with very little effort, but then I heard it…a song…it called me…

I came back to my senses as another troll was attacking me. I adjusted my grip on the fantastic weapon and drove my target off of the ledge in a brilliant burst of energy. The double scimitar has some surprises within it that I look forward to discovering.

We climbed into the water below, with Moolog quickly finding his way to the bottom. The remaining troll was dispatched quickly once all of us engaged it, especially with the help of Moolog’s flaming sword. The trail then led us into an oddly located temple of Dol Dorn, or so the door displayed. I could not help but feel that there was something very sinister about this place, beyond even that the trail of the missing boys brought us there. We searched room after room, finally finding a secret door that took us behind the altar area.

This secret door, unfortunately, brought us right into a trap triggered by a second secret door. All three of us crashed into the water far below and I tried right away to swim along the wall toward the most obvious exit. In the water, however, was an aberration that struck us from below. I was hit right away as I began to feel my strength drain away, followed by Hero, and I could only imagine what Moolog was being faced with on the bottom. I tried to kick free, but that only brought me more attacks. Ultimately I was able to swim to the shallow water with Hero, but I had to dive back into the depths to help Moolog.

Once we were clear of the water, we climbed some stairs and made it to an internal temple. Only Hero could understand some of what was being said, but he conveyed that the boys were to be sacrificed to some dark entity. I would not wait to carefully deliberate a plan; instead I decided that we had to dash through the chanters to protect the boys. Luckily, we managed to gather both Mathis and Tumal out of the temple proper and into the circular hallway. Moolog and I fought to shield them from danger as the enchantments that I had placed on the weapons to combat the aberration in the water carved through all who tried to stop us…

…It was at last all over. We carried the boys from the temple front and out of the sewer. Moolog took Timal back to his parents and I took Mathis back home to his waiting sister. I then picked up an apron and ushered Kayli out to go sing…Hero returned to his shop to whatever end that may bring.
