I snuck off last night. I ended up finding some kids my age in the caravan. I think they were from Wyr. It doesn’t matter. I meet a Boy named Dominic. He is handsome, and sweet, a smooth talker and frankly if I didn’t have to I probably wouldn’t because… well you find a man who talks like that and you just know that his vows of lasting love aren’t totally sincere. It’s ok, sincere enough, and it was so nice to be with someone who thinks I am just a normal girl. He either didn’t notice or care that I was cold… Hmm… I do like him. We drank, and he made me laugh, it’s been so long since I’ve Really laughed like that. Not since my father… I’ve just been so busy. I told him about how I lost most of my village, cried on his shoulder. He told me how he was searching for his little sister, his parents went on ahead and left her in his care. I wish I could help him. But I didn’t want him to know that I am… what I am. She is probably in the caravan somewhere, I told him not to worry.
I shouldn’t see him again. It’s better if I don’t, I don’t want him to know what I am. But I am going to go back in two nights to see if she turned up… If not I’ll see what I can do.
I shouldn’t get pregnant… I used a bit of negative energy after.
Maliden has been good company lately.
The Next Day
A priest! A Priest!!!
I went back last night. I wanted to check to see if his sister had returned… I know I was going to wait 2 nights… but. When I got there he was leading the others in prayer. Hmm… If I hadn’t grown up with Clerics I wouldn’t have known. I was SO angry, he lied to me… He told me he was a farmer. So I said:
“You Liar! You’re a Priest!” He stopped his prayer and walked up to me, He put his hand on my shoulder and backed me away from the others. Bastard, I was too angry to care where he wanted to talk to me. “I’m a Cleric.” He whispered glairing down at me. “It’s the same thing, Dominic. You told me you were a farmer!” “And you told me you were a simple Clerics daughter; at least I WAS a farmer.” “I was too, your HOLINESS!! Why did you sit with me if you knew, why did you drink with me?” I jerked away from him, I didn’t really want to know, I just wanted to leave, fine if he’s a liar, I needed to leave it all behind me. “I just wanted to get you away from the others… until I was sure of what you were. I CAN tell. Why else?” “Well I AM Beautiful!” I can’t BELIEVE I SAID THAT! “I…” He laughed the Jerk! “Well that’s why I stayed. I like you Hazera, I meant the things I said, I want to help you.” “You lied to me.” “You lied too.” Suddenly I realized how close he was, how did I not notice? We kissed and I hated him and loved him all at the same time. He must have carried me into his tent, because I don’t remember walking, just kissing and pulling off his chain shirt… It was SO much better then last time… Now I know what the other kids made such a big deal about.
After, he asked me: “Did you even notice that I helped you a little?” “What do you mean? It wasn’t That good” “Last time I noticed the conflict. When I was checking to see if you were evil… that’s why it took so long for me to know for sure…I prayed for you, after you went to sleep… It took hours but it started to finally balance. I can help you Hazera, I can redeem you.” “You can redeem me? Who said I wanted that? You bastard I don’t need redemption! You don’t know anything!”
I just grabbed my things and left… that Bastard!
(I.E. Hazera Returns to camp pissed off holding her equipment in her arms and wearing nothing but her under ware… which isn’t the cute under ware of our modern age, but instead more like a t-shirt and long Johns. If any of you would like to take this opportunity to ask her what the HELL she is doing, and why she has 3-4 cut marks on her arm… feel free. But she’s grabbing some booze!)
Dominic's Story
Dominic emerged from his tent moments after Hazera made her hasty exit. He had the wit to put pants on but upon reaching the cool night air all he saw was her back and bare feet in the distance over the shoulder of a problem that clearly needed to be dealt with. It was Friar Kristove, the old man hobbled towards him in what would be his best charge. The man wore typical friar brown vestments; with a hood that protected his face from the sun during daylight, and at night from scrutiny. A large boil festered on the old man’s cheek.
“Dominic, are you mad!?! I saw that witch leave your tent.” The friar hissed looking around for people who might over hear. Smacking Dominic in the arm with his cane at the same time.
“Leave it alone Kristove, You don’t know what you see.” Pushing the prodding cane to the side.
“I know your lust has gotten the best of you Again, and your sating it with that Vile Necromancer!”
“Who are you to know what she is?” Dominic glared down at the old man, “There is a stronger spirit of good in that woman then I’ve ever seen.” Dominic’s eyes softened as he smiled, “She could make a great cleric if we could fix her problem.”
“She’s affected your mind.” The old man mumbled stepping away and searching his pockets. “Aundairian Soldiers are searching for her, Her crimes are as clear as the stink of rot and chill of the grave coming off her. Here, proof.” The old man thrust out a piece of paper from his pocket. Dominic read quietly, and then reread the note; finding a bench to sit at. The old friar followed a pace behind.
“Necromancer… I knew she was fighting possession from a powerful evil… but Necromancy, that implies she wants the possession.” Dominic mumbled unbelieving.
“Good you’re coming to your senses,” The friar sat beside him, hand clasped on Dominic’s shoulder. “All is not lost, the Flame need never know the sordid details, we’ll capture her and the rest of the folk on this flier, turn her friends over to the next Aundairian force we meet, and turn her over to the inquisition.” Dominic thought quietly for a moment, the smell of the wretched friar assailing him; even with his eyes closed he felt he could see maggots climbing through the man’s cheek.
“No, and if you attempt such an act I will strike you down for your treachery.”
The friar flew to his feet, leaning over Dominic, his breath stinking of decay. “You are one to speak of Treachery! What must Lady Tira think of your behavior?”
Dominic stood now, leaning over the friar, “The Flame put Hazera in my path, I will NOT turn my back on her. There are shades of grey even in the center of the flame itself… But that isn’t something I would expect a Puritan like you to understand.”
“Heresy! I will report you to the Inquisition! It wont matter how long your family has been with the church, when they find out about your little necromancer they’ll put you in the center of a flame!” The friar spoke as he backed away, snickering evilly at his own little joke. Having had his fill of the discussing old friar, Dominic went for his sword, sending the friar into the darkness at a full run, Kristove never looked back to see Dominic’s hand return from his side empty.
“Bastard!” Dominic roared kicking over the bench, he knelt to set it right again, but paused to bow his head in prayer. “Goddess, I don’t know what kind of cruel test you are giving me, I don’t know way you put her in my path, and I don’t know why you are allowing my heart to begin to love her. I only know is this must be your will; what I feel can’t be created by evil.”
This was originally a journal entry for Dominic, mostly him trying to figure out how he felt... The original is MUCH funnier... But then I realized that Dominic really isn't the kind of guy to spend time in his tent journaling about a girl he likes. Besides, Dominic needed to discover the full truth about Hazera.
