Sel Zonn Station
Aboard Sel Zonn station floating above the planet Brental, the heroes (minus Daken) have just decided not to carry out a lucrative but morally compromising slave run for the Hutt gangster, Parva. We are anxiously discussing our plans for escaping the station and avoiding Parva's twi'lek agent, Gar Lavando, when a chance encounter sweeps us into adventure.
The Damsel in Distress
An Alderaanian agent named Maya flees a pair of Imperial stormtroopers. Her apparent injuries draw Riet and the others to her assistance, but Daken steps in with an apparent plan to steal the stormtroopers prey. The stormtroopers seem unwilling to listen to Daken's fabricated tales and open fire - landing several impressive hits on the human which he shrugs off with hardly an effort. A pair of Brental security join in the firefight, focused on eliminating the Alderaanian. Kyp's quick thinking and Force talents leave one of the security guards disarmed, and an easy target for his fellow Jedi Dort's quarterstaff. Valee and Skarr take cover and fire at the stormtroopers, who continue their barrage on the brazen Daken. Riet takes the opportunity to escort the badly injured Maya to safety behind the heroes lines. Daken manages to down a stormtrooper just as Dort injures one of the fleeing security troops - leaving him easy prey for Skarr's sniper shot. The remaining stormtrooper and Valee trade fire, but Valee's superior marksmanship wins in the end.
The fire fight does garner some attention, and warning alarms sound throughout the Promenade. Maya offers the party a temporary sanctuary and a way off the station, which is readily accepted. Her purpose on the station was to meet someone on behalf of Bail Organa, but the Imperial and Brentalian forces were aware of her presence mere moments after her arrival. She begs for aid - requesting that we meet Switch, an information broker with an office in Deep Storage V14 - in exchange for an unnamed sum from Bail Organa. The timetable offers no opportunity for rest, and we set off immediately.
Meeting the Information Broker
After wandering the neglected and abandoned portions of the station for half an hour, we are confronted with a blast door guarded by Gamorreans. While the language barrier is substantial, the message was amply clear - and after paying the bribe, we are granted audience with the enigmatic Switch. He is none too pleased with the change of arrangements, and only offers the cargo in exchange for an exorbitant fee, but eventually settles on our indentured servitude as his eyes and ears throughout the galaxy. As he renders the location of the cargo on Blue Deck, one of Switch's rivals, a Chevin by the name of Gangalore bursts into the room with an array of guards. Caught between the implacable foes, we have no choice but to attack.
Skarr and Daken miraculously drop the imposing Chevin in the first few seconds of the lightfight before seeking cover behind some cargo containers. Dort impetuously charges into the fray, but soon finds himself in dire straights as the Chevin's thugs lay into him with vibroaxes. Kyp takes a more glancing blow in defense of Valee and Riet, as the Sullustan slaps a medpac on the injured Dort. Skarr and Daken charge out of cover, each taking out a thug with pinpoint accuracy, while Kyp's skills with a lightsaber eviscerates another. Valee takes out the last of the opposition with a well-placed shot. Impressed with our prowess, Switch offers to reduce the terms of our agreement and offers us minor employment in delivering a casque of Corellian ale to Alderaan. Our attempts to reach Maya via comlink to apprise her of our progress are unsuccessful, and we begin to fear the worst.
Assault on the Docking Bay
We reach the Blue Deck, and are making slow progress to the docking bay in the human dominated section when we encounter another member of Brental security. Kyp and Dort use their Force skills to isolate the officer from prying eyes by redirecting him to the refresher, where his interrogation begins in earnest. He mentions an anonymous tip-off about the cargo, which is now being guarded by a squad of stormtroopers armed with heavy weapons. He also claims that Maya has been slain, though we later learn that to be false. Fear eventually overrides his sense of self-preservation, and he attempts to flee, but receives an incapacitating blow to the head from a fast-acting Dort. We bind him and lock him in the refresher before seeking a more subtle route into the cargo bay via the station's computer. Without knowing what sort of opposition we face, the humans decide to take the vanguard, hopefully avoiding the Imperial's inherent racism towards alien species.
Unfortunately, the Imperial officer seemed eager to arrest anyone seeking cargo - without even attempting to ascertain what type of cargo. The stormtroopers open fire, and the humans are quickly enmeshed in a net fired from a repulsor-sled. Dort tries unsuccessfully to pass as a janitor, but the firefight has already been joined, and the stormtrooper decides to shoot first and ask questions later. Valee injures the repulsor-sled pilot, while the Imperial officer directs his troops and dives for cover and Kyp, Daken, and Skarr extract themselves from the netting. Dort nimbly evades a heavy blaster shot from the repulsor-sled before engaging a lone stormtrooper. Valee and Riet manage to incapacitate the repulsor-sled driver, and seek to commandeer its use for the allies. Daken again demonstrates his seeming invulnerability to blaster fire as Kyp vaults through the air to land on the repulsor-sled, defending Valee as he assumes the controls. A lucky shot catches Daken unaware, but he manages to recover and leap away from danger to attack the cowardly officer. A lucky blaster shot drops Valee into unconsciousness, and only sheer luck saved him from total oblivion. Riet proves himself to be a passable shot as he takes out a trooper, while Skarr eliminates the officer. Daken and Kyp rush to aid Dort, who has been holding his own against a remarkably capable trooper. Skarr boosts Riet onto the repulsor-sled, where he tends to the badly injured Valee, returning him to consciousness. The trooper valiantly manages a few more seconds before he is sliced in twain by Dort's masterful lightsaber stroke.
Afraid of imminent Imperial reinforcements we desperately contact Maya, who thankfully responds with the wonderful news that a ship is on the way to the docking platform to retrieve the cargo. Riet races to the bay door and manages to lock it against further Imperial encroachment, as the rest of the party wrangles the cargo and Switch's casque of Corellian ale into the cargo bay of the savior transport. Our hyperspace escape from the station is blessedly uncontested.
Escape to Alderaan
Captain Sirona Platte introduces herself, her droid copilot Crash, and her ship, the Baudo Star Yacht Banshee, as Riet tends to the injured during the three day voyage to Alderaan. We examine the mysterious cargo to find a human male frozen in carbonite. Our arrival on the beautiful world of Alderaan is heralded by a platoon of royal honor guards, and our rag-tag crew is escorted into presence of Senator Bail Organa himself. After lauding our efforts on Sel Zonn and granting us the promised monetary reward, he asks that we undertake yet another mission of vital importance to the galaxy. Imperial Admiral Gil Davarth, a highly decorated commander of the garrison on Coruscant, had been collaborating with the resistance to the newly formed Empire before being incarcerated at a remote outpost on the Felucian system. We need to free him from the prison and escort him back to Alderaan where he can be debriefed. The party seems almost over-awed by the presence of such an august figure, and readily agrees to the request. Though Bail does seem to recognize the disguised Skarr and his probable origin, he takes no action against the former clone trooper.
Mission to Felucia
The party engages in some much needed resupply before reboarding the Banshee for the trip to Felucia, which passes uneventfully. The trip to the surface, however, is plagued by the presence of an Imperial Star Destroyer. Captain Platte manages a rough landing, leaving the ship in disrepair, but she promises it will be spaceworthy by the time we complete our mission. Riet takes an unusually long time to pry himself away from the damaged vessel to accompany his comrade.
We wade through the swampy jungle, and the excellent tracking skills of Dort and Daken manage to keep the trip uneventful, if unpleasant, for several hours. It isn't until dusk that we are set upon by some native Felucians emerging from the marsh. They prove soft targets to both blaster and lightsaber, but they still manage to land strange force attacks on both Valee and Riet, and Skarr takes a nasty gash to the shoulder.
Eventually we reach a Felucian village carved out of the towering mushrooms, and a number of Felucians around a cooking fire turn to look at us.
