 *** BEGIN DECRYPTED FRAGMENT ***

Spoke to Dr. Paeva today. It seems that her daughter and grand-daughter have gone missing. Not surprisingly, Lone Star has decided not to investigate. There are so many disappearances in the Barrens that it would take an army to track them all down. That said, I just can't say no to a good friend. The Doc has been a great mentor, and the time she spends at General helps a lot of people who would otherwise be drek out of luck.

Interestingly, the Doc has teamed me up with a couple other folks to help with the search. Given that wandering the Barrens alone at night is not something any sane person would do, I must say I'm glad for the help. Cali seems very capable, if a little on the extreme side. She moves with the grace of a hunting cat, which could come in very handy if we run into any trouble. Dex is a mechanic, and certainly seems to know his stuff.

We started off checking out Anna's apartment. This woman needs to seriously reconsider the parenting of her child. Anyone who puts their kid in that kind of environment has got to have some wires crossed. Still, from what I've seen, Sarah is a remarkable girl, and hasn't been adversely affected by her surroundings... yet.

There was an unusual astral signature in the apartment, a sickly greenish-red thread that led out of the room. Being near it was comparable to being force-fed raw sewage, but we need all the leads we can get. Turns out it led to the apartment of a guy named Jeff, who we soon discovered was stalking Anna. Jeff had summoned... something... in his apartment, and we found the remains of his summoning circle. He also has some pretty sick tastes, with pictures of Sarah, some pedophile mags, and some illegal snuff flicks.

From there, we decided to visit Anna's job, a fringe bar called "Ram It Down". You think you've seen just about everything, and then you see a 7'5" troll dressed in a pink frilly dress and heels, covered in so much makeup you'd think she was auditioning to be a clown. After convincing her (?) that we were friends of Anna's, we got a chance to talk to Bart, Anna's boss. He confirmed that someone named Jeff was stalking her, and that they had first met at ganger hangout called "The Pit". We also got a line on a band, Wolfsbane, which had ties to both Anna and Jeff.

We decided to check out the Pit before it got too dark, but there wasn't much there. No one had heard of Wolfsbane, and no one we spoke to recognized Anna or Jeff. We decided to leave, and none to soon, because a mini-war flared up right after we left.

Taking the van back to Dex's shop, we hopped on the Grid and found some contact info for Wolfsbane. We tried to call them, but only got one of their managers, and not the friendliest guy in town. We setup a meet with Iron in a nicer section of town. Once there, we discovered that Wolfsbane had dropped off the radar at the same time as Anna and Sarah. Given the common threads to Jeff, I can only assume that the incidents are connected. Iron told us that the band's last gig before they vanished was at a movie studio across town in Tacoma. They never came back.

Hoping to keep the trail from getting any colder, we stopped at the studio, and decided to see what was up. Cali and Dex snuck in from the roof access, and I was just about to join them when the main cargo doors started to open. I raced to the edge of the roof, and saw a humanoid figure with a red jacket and an astral aura from hell racing off into the distance. I squeezed off a few shots to no effect, and then Cali raced out after him. That girl can really move. I hopped off the roof and caught the van just as Dex peeled out in pursuit. Cali tackled our runner, and I fired a stun dart at close range into its chest. Other than a few spasms, I might as well have been shooting daisies at it. The thing was some sort of half-alive ghoul, skin peeling off and drooling everywhere. Unlike the movies, this thing didn't seem to want brains half as much as it wanted to get away. Shifting back to astral, I could see another greenish-red line stretching like a bungee cord back into the city.

We tied up our guest and left him under Cali's watchful eye while Dex and I checked out the equipment in the studio. We found a music video by what we assume was Wolfsbane, but it was pretty fringe, complete with demon summoning and mind control. Basically, the worst of what all those puritanical bible thumpers accuse modern music of being.
